Performing Arts Alliance: One Calendar Uniting 20 Arts Organizations

The Performing Arts Alliance: Your One-Stop Calendar for Arts Events in Steamboat Springs

If you’ve ever tried to plan a family night out around a local play, concert, or dance performance, you know the frustration: the information lives in a dozen different places. One organization posts to Facebook, another on their web page, and a third only tells you if you happen to be on their email list. By the time you piece it all together, the show has sold out — or already happened.

That’s exactly the problem the Performing Arts Alliance event calendar was built to solve.

One calendar for all the arts, all in one place

The Performing Arts Alliance events calendar is a free, community-focused calendar that pulls performing arts events across Steamboat Springs into a single, easy-to-browse hub. Theater productions, live music, dance recitals, youth performances, seasonal shows — instead of hunting across scattered websites and social feeds, you can see what’s happening in town at a glance.

Want to find something to do this weekend? Looking specifically for free or kid-friendly performances? Trying to support a local arts organization but not sure what’s coming up? The calendar makes it simple to scroll, filter, and find your next outing in a couple of minutes.

Why I built it

I’m the developer behind the project. As the person who also runs Kids In Town, I spend a lot of time thinking about how families discover the great things happening in their own backyard — and how often those things stay hidden simply because the information is so fragmented.

Dagny McKinley, the Executive Director of the Performing Arts Alliance (you may know the organization by its former name, Undiscovered Earth), reached out with a question: “I saw what you did with Kids In Town. Could you do that for us?” It was the same problem I knew well, just in a different world — arts events scattered across more than 20 local organizations, with no single place to find them.

So I built the Performing Arts Alliance events calendar as a shared home for all of them: a place where small organizations get more visibility, and where locals get one reliable link to bookmark instead of ten. The result is a clean, fast, mobile-friendly calendar that does the job well: helping you find live arts events worth leaving the house for!

Great for kids and adults

While Kids In Town is all about family life, the Performing Arts Alliance serves the whole community. You’ll find performances aimed at little ones, all-ages shows that make for a memorable family evening, and grown-up nights out like concerts and theater. Exposing kids to live performance early builds creativity, focus, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts — and Steamboat has more of it on offer than most people realize.

It’s also a win for the local arts scene. Every time a family discovers a show through the calendar, a local organization gets a few more seats filled and a little more momentum.

Find your next show

Whether you’re a parent looking for a weekend activity, a date-night planner, or just someone who loves live performance, the Performing Arts Alliance is the easiest way to see what’s on in Routt County.
