Thankful Theater Camp

Children will participate in a reader’s theater about being thankful. They will make art projects to create props and scenery. Children will also make creative Thanksgiving cards. BUGS is a celebration of curiosity and discovery, encouraging audiences to connect with the natural world through a fusion of music, technology, and interactive storytelling. Whether you’re a child or simply young at heart, this show promises a unique and enchanting experience.

Audiences are invited to engage actively—shouting out their favorite bugs, dancing along with animated insect characters projected onto the guitar, and immersing themselves in a playful exploration of nature’s tiny creatures. The visual experience, crafted in collaboration with multimedia theater company GLITCH, features projections of insects, melting ice cream, bouncing toys, and more, creating a whimsical atmosphere. Musically, King blends live guitar performances with sound samples and field recordings from nature, all triggered in real time, offering a rich auditory journey.

We’ll be tabling with a wide variety of insect specimens, everything from beetles to butterflies, along with fun facts and activities that highlight the fascinating role bugs play in our ecosystems. Preshow event is 5:00-5:30pm.

Miracle Film Screening

Join Olympic hockey legends Jack O’Callahan and Rob McClanahan—two key members of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” U.S. gold medal team—for a special screening of Miracle (2004) starring Kurt Russell. The film tells the inspiring true story of Herb Brooks, the player-turned-coach who led the underdog U.S. Olympic hockey team to a stunning victory over the seemingly unbeatable Soviet Union.

Relive one of the greatest moments in sports history, then stay for a live Q&A moderated by Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association Board President Kerry Shea with O’Callahan and McClanahan as they share behind-the-scenes stories, personal memories, and reflections from their extraordinary journey to Olympic glory.

Craft Club at the Library

Connect, create and craft together! We’re feeling crafty! Join us at the Bud Werner Memorial Library every Tuesday at 4:30pm to learn new crafting skills and explore exciting creative outlets. This weekly program is for kids ages 8 and older and will last approximately 45-60 minutes. This program is free and all materials will be provided with a few exceptions, which you will be alerted to upon registration.

October is Tie Dye Month – Learn a new tie dye style each week.
November is Painting Month – Explore new painting styles each week, fun for every skill level.
December is DIY Gifts – Each week will feature a new craft that makes the perfect gift.
January is Book Bedazzling – We encourage attendance all month, as this craft is a practice in focus and patience. By the end of the month your favorite book will be bedazzled top to bottom!

Pre-registration is required, limited space reserved for those that arrive first come, first served on the day of the event!
