Family Holiday Ornament Making Workshop

Description: Participants will work with rolled clay slabs to make fun, hand-made decorated ceramic ornaments with instructor Xenia Zampolli. Students can use cookie cutters to cut out shapes or ceramic tools to cut and sculpt unique forms. We will then use a variety of carving and texture tools to imprint the clay surface and underglaze to paint and decorate the ornaments. Each ornament will be prepared with a small hole at the top through which to affix string for hanging. Pieces will be fired and finished with a clear glaze before being returned to students.

Sunday, November 9, 1-3:00pm OR Sunday, November 30, 1-3:00pm

Cost: $95/per person

Age: 6 and up (adults welcome as well)

After School Youth Pottery Wheel Class (Late Fall Session)

Description: Kids love to play in the mud! In this class, they will learn how to wedge and center their clay on the wheel and then proceed to the fun and messy throwing process of creating cylinders, cups, bowls and possibly plates, depending on progress during class. Students will also learn to trim their pots on the wheel when the clay has stiffened to “leather hard” stage. They will then decorate and glaze their work over the course of several weeks. All pieces will be fired to 2150 degrees Fahrenheit for functional use in the home and kitchen.

Children can take bus Route 10 West and can get off at Wagner Rents at 3:59pm directly across the street from Warehome Studios for convenient drop off.

Wednesdays, 3:45pm-5:45pm, October 22 – November 19

Instructor: Xenia Zampolli

Cost: $485, includes instructor fee and clay and glaze materials (max. 15lbs clay per child)
