Audiences are invited to engage actively—shouting out their favorite bugs, dancing along with animated insect characters projected onto the guitar, and immersing themselves in a playful exploration of nature’s tiny creatures. The visual experience, crafted in collaboration with multimedia theater company GLITCH, features projections of insects, melting ice cream, bouncing toys, and more, creating a whimsical atmosphere. Musically, King blends live guitar performances with sound samples and field recordings from nature, all triggered in real time, offering a rich auditory journey.
Join Yampatika at Strings Music Pavilion for a hands-on insect adventure from 5:00-5:30pm!
We’ll be tabling with a wide variety of insect specimens, everything from beetles to butterflies, along with fun facts and activities that highlight the fascinating role bugs play in our ecosystems. Preshow event is 5:00-5:30pm.
Join Olympic hockey legends Jack O’Callahan and Rob McClanahan—two key members of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” U.S. gold medal team—for a special screening of Miracle (2004) starring Kurt Russell. The film tells the inspiring true story of Herb Brooks, the player-turned-coach who led the underdog U.S. Olympic hockey team to a stunning victory over the seemingly unbeatable Soviet Union.
Relive one of the greatest moments in sports history, then stay for a live Q&A moderated by Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association Board President Kerry Shea with O’Callahan and McClanahan as they share behind-the-scenes stories, personal memories, and reflections from their extraordinary journey to Olympic glory.

We use items based upon the characters and/or settings in our books to support a child’s retelling, re-imagining, or re-engaging with a story. Many of these story basket activities will have the option of a to-go bag so you can continue the fun at home! These baskets will be geared towards toddlers & preschoolers, ages 2-5.
