Now your family can enjoy the slopes for absolutely FREE at North America’s Oldest Operating Ski Area and Steamboat’s original ski area. \nColorado’s most affordable Sunday lift ticket is a way to celebrate the community’s Olympian spirit and honor the tradition of this historic ski area. Skiing since 1915\, Howelsen Hill has produced nearly 100 winter Olympians and has helped generations of Steamboat residents enjoy the sport. \nDuring the season\, it’s as easy as simply stopping into the Ticket Office to pick up your free ticket\, which is required to access the lifts and the Nordic trails (cross-country\, fat bike and snowshoe) on these special ski free days. \nAfter each Ski Free Sunday\, continue your Free Spree that same day at Mountain Tap Brewery (910 Yampa Street) with a free beer (certain beers excluded) or a cauldron of popcorn from 2 PM to 5 PM by simply showing your Ski Free Sunday lift ticket. The brewery even crafted a special seasonal beer in honor of the ski area – Howelsen Haze IPA.

DESCRIPTION:The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club\, one of the largest and oldest winter sports clubs in the U.S.\, hosts the 113th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival\, the oldest continuing Winter Carnival west of the Mississippi. For several days\, the entire town is given over to racing\, ski jumping\, a parade featuring Steamboat’s skiing high school band (the only one in the United States)\, the famous ski jöring events down Lincoln Avenue\, and the spectacular night show featuring the legendary Lighted Man and fireworks display where you can see one of the largest fireworks in the country! DESCRIPTION:Stories come to life with hands-on\, play based fun!\nWe will re-imagine a beloved children’s book with a Story Basket! Story baskets are a tool that can help children develop early literacy skills\, practice storytelling\, and engage in imaginative play. We use items based upon the characters and/or settings in our books to support a child’s retelling\, re-imagining\, or re-engaging with a story. Many of these story basket activities will have the option of a to-go bag so you can continue the fun at home! These baskets will be geared towards toddlers & preschoolers\, ages 2-5. This program is free\, space is limited and will run on a first come\, first serve basis.\nEvery Wednesday at 10:30am in the Children’s Storytime Room.
