SUMMARY:Story Baskets at the Steamboat Library
DESCRIPTION:Stories come to life with hands-on\, play based fun!\nWe will re-imagine a beloved children’s book with a Story Basket! Story baskets are a tool that can help children develop early literacy skills\, practice storytelling\, and engage in imaginative play. We use items based upon the characters and/or settings in our books to support a child’s retelling\, re-imagining\, or re-engaging with a story. Many of these story basket activities will have the option of a to-go bag so you can continue the fun at home! These baskets will be geared towards toddlers & preschoolers\, ages 2-5. This program is free\, space is limited and will run on a first come\, first serve basis.\nEvery Wednesday at 10:30am in the Children’s Storytime Room.

SUMMARY:Bumper Cars & Public Skate
DESCRIPTION:Spin\, glide\, bump and slide across the ice! Bumper Cars at Howelsen Ice Arena are a fun\, interactive activity for the whole family. Sessions run 20 minutes (closer to 15 minutes of ride time once everyone is loaded and unloaded). Reservations open one month in advance and spots fill up fast\, so book early. \nChildren must be at least 3 years old to ride\, and kids 3–4 ride with an adult at no extra cost. To drive their own car\, riders need to be at least 42″ tall and able to comfortably reach and operate the controls. Two people may share a car only if one is 18 or older and the other is 6 or younger — two kids or two adults can’t ride together. \nThe arena is chilly\, so bring a warm coat\, hat and gloves\, and wear closed-toe shoes with good traction. \nWant to skate too? Mention it at the front desk when you check in and you’ll get a discount on public skate admission\, or book the Bump-N-Skate combo up front. \nWhat it costs \n\nBumper Cars: $18.45 + tax per car (not per rider)\nBump-N-Skate combo: $25 — bumper cars plus public skate\nPublic Skate: $12 adults\, $11 youth (under 18)\, free for ages 5 & under\nSkate rentals: $5\, all ages
